Camping is a wonderful activity for children! Exposure to the outdoors is enriching and broadens appreciation of the natural beauty surrounding us that we take too much for granted. Along with the joys of camping, the Danger Rangers remind kids that important safety rules must be followed in order to prevent injuries that could spoil the fun for everybody.
Here are some camping safety tips that all children need to know!
Always go hiking in a group of four or more with adult supervision.
Wear hiking boots, a hat and clothing that protects you from scrapes, bites, and poisonous plants.
Campfires should only be started by adults in established fire rings. Check with a park ranger to be sure campfires are allowed.
Always keep a bucket of water and a shovel near your campfire.
If you are lost, stay where you are.
Always keep a first-aid kit on hand and know how to use it when camping.
